Man arrested for stealing cap



A 27-year-old man has been arraigned before an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court over alleged theft of a snapback cap (face cap) and other items from a car in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Samuel Ogbonna of Byazhin, Kubwa was charged with mischief and theft, offences that contradict sections 327 and 388 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Ighono Icholi, told the court that one Emeka Igwe of Kubwa, on July 15, reported at the Kubwa Police Station, of how the accused, on same date, maliciously broke into his Mercedes  Benz E320 car.
He said he stole the sound system, battery, 10 litres of fuel, gold colour face cap and silver chain wrist watch, all valued at N92,000.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 by the Judge, Mohammed Marafa with one reasonable surety who must be resident within the court jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned to August 24 for hearing.

Similarly, a 35-year-old businessman has been arraigned before the same court over two plastic chairs and other items alleged missing while in his custody.
John Onah of opposite Health Centre was charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating, offences contrary to sections 312 and 321 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Lukas Ephraim told the court that one Samuel Udozor of Byazhin, on July 15, complained at the Kubwa Police Station, of how he entrusted the accused with his one bedroom apartment with items contained therein on which he had control.

He said the accused either sold or could not account for a plasma television, Tiger generator, Panasonic radio, and two plastic chairs, all valued at N76,000 which were in the apartment.
The prosecutor further said the accused deceived and collected from one Augustine Nzotta and Peter Abraham the sum of N13,500, promising to supply wood to them but also ran away.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100, 000 by the judge, Mohammed Marafa, with two reasonable sureties who must be resident within the court jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to August 31 for hearing.
